    Description

    Laser surface hardening of steels and cast irons is an advanced process that is not yet commonly used in industry. The possibility of monitoring and controlling all the process parameters as well as the use of simulation and virtualization software to reduce process set-up times represent the main competitive advantages compared to conventional processes such as furnace or induction hardening. The lecture will illustrate the peculiarities of the process and some application cases to show how an accurate and dynamic control of the process parameters allows a greater general process efficiency both in terms of costs and energy consumption.
