The DAS system from Soraluce is said to increase the dynamic rigidity of the machine in real time and improve machining performance by up to 300 percent. As the developers explain, it reduces the regenerative effect of the chatter when machining. Using the same actuators, the latest DAS+ version includes additional functionalities that will be premiered at EMO Hannover 2017 such as vibration level monitoring, chatter detection and the new Mute feature. This latter function monitors the machining and runs an internal algorithm that looks for the best cutting conditions to increase the stability of the operation. According to the Spanish company, it considers the chatter and excitation frequency generated by the tool and selects the best way to overcome the issue, automatically activating the DAS+ system, selecting the optimum spindle speed or introducing a continuous harmonic oscillation in the spindle during the machining process. This reportedly assists the operator in maximizing the use of the machine capability.
