As the exhibitors describe its properties, the ATC coating is an extremely hard, crack-free, nodular, precise, ultrathin chromium coating with a purity of more than 98 percent that can be engineered via a high-energy process to all metals. These include with certain restrictions, aluminum, but magnesium and titanium are excluded. Since the process takes place with little heat well under 100°C, there are no structural changes to the materials to be coated, as the exhibitors point out. The latest further development will be presented in the form of the ATC-Lub. In addition to the accepted benefits of the established coating, the new coating has a very thin layer that is maximally 1 micrometer strong. It is reportedly possible to coat all metallic surfaces. The key advantages of the coating are said to lie in the minimization of friction, its dry-running properties and the improvement of the remolding process.
