With their ultra-precision Präzoplan machining center, Krause + Mauser intend to set a new benchmark for accuracy and productivity. According to the manufacturers, one joint guide for two of the three main axes is a unique machine concept in the market and enables production with an outstanding repeatability of up to +/- 0.4 micrometers and a positional uncertainty of +/- 0.5 micrometers due to the aerostatic planar guide on the slide in the X and Y directions on a finely lapped granite plate. Thanks to this guide system, a further post-processing, for example by grinding or polishing, is said to be superfluous in many cases. The machine reportedly allows the production of surface qualities up to Ra 2.5 nm (mirror quality) by milling. In addition to precision, the concept of the planar guide also ensures exceptionally high dynamics and stiffness, which serves to enable the production of high-precision parts even with very high output.
