Hermle's RS 05 robot system can be adapted to supply C 12, C 22 and C 32 machining centers with workpiece blanks or pallets. The system will be highly beneficial in further boosting machine running times in fields such as medical technology, precision mechanics and electrode manufacturing. To meet all the various customer requirements resulting from such a wide range of application areas, Hermle has developed three different storage units for the small and compact RS 05 robot system.
The "single matrix" unit consists of two separately pre-milled matrices that are located directly at the foot of the robot and can hold all kinds of blanks. The "lifting storage" unit can be loaded with up to 16 stacked matrices. Each pallet can have a unique design, thus offering an unbelievably diverse range of parts. The "circular storage" unit consists of several circular depositing pockets for pallets or workpieces. The pockets are arranged one above the other around the robot.
All three units utilize the same robot, which conveys blanks or pallets weighing up to 10 kilograms into the machining center’s working area and returns finished workpieces to the storage unit. The robot can also be used for matrix handling, utilizing a push-pull system adapted to the gripper to extract matrices from the lifting storage unit and reinsert them. The robot can be equipped with either a single or double gripper and also comes with a blow-off unit for cleaning the clamping device.
