The range of VA-OX taps has been extended and will be exhibited at the EMO Hannover 2017. The vapor-plated HSSE tools have reportedly been further optimized and will be available starting in September up to a diameter of M36 and in an extended version up to M20. Thanks to its VA geometry, the tool is seen as particularly appropriate for corrosion- and acid-resistant steels. Moreover, it is also said to be applicable for all other steels up to 1,200 N/mm2, castings, aluminum alloys, titanium or nickel alloys up to 900 N/mm2. Due to the twist of 45°, maximum thread depths of 3xD can be achieved, therefore ensuring optimal formation and removal of chips. The base material is HSSE V3 steel, with a high vanadium content that reportedly contributes to considerably increased wear resistance of the tool in comparison to conventional HSSE-CO steels.
