    Super-fast drills for machining composite materials

    The PS-type PCD twist drills from Lach Diamant reduce three work cycles to one and save a lot of time as a result. They have been developed for composite, green carbide, ceramic and graphite processing.

    The new PCD twist drill from Lach Diamant has been developed to achieve a perfect machining of composites.

    The newly developed drills are claimed to save up to 75 percent of machining time by reducing three previously necessary steps to one process. As the German manufacturers put it, the twist drill completes piloting, drilling and reaming all in one shot. The company points out that it can draw upon a long tradition of developing and manufacturing PCD drills for the machining of composites (CFRP, GRP), especially for use in aircraft and automotive lightweight construction. The drills have a point angle of 70° to 180° and are available with either double cone or step drill geometry and a double margin for drilling qualities up to h6. The products are available from diameters 2.5 to 12 mm as standard sizes.
