WALDRICH COBURG is now a global player when it comes to large precision machine tools. The gantry milling, vertical turning and grinding machines developed and manufactured by innovative engineers and highly qualified experts are well known for meeting the toughest quality requirements worldwide. The company prides itself on having a strong employer brand and deems training excellence to be extremely important in reinforcing this outstanding reputation. Its latest development, the new MultiContour flexible manufacturing system, also has what it takes to spread the word about WALDRICH COBURG around the globe.
With this system comprising four fully automatic MultiContour 3000 P high-speed machining centers and a palletizing unit controlled by a laser scanner, WALDRICH COBURG has now well and truly made its move into large machine tool manufacturing. The system boasts not one but two world firsts. Workpieces weighing up to 40 metric tons are transported between the setup/storage stations and the machines by two industrial trucks that benefit from trackless operation - the next big innovation for the pallet systems of the future. Perhaps even more impressive - and also unique - is the fact that all the linear axes on the machines feature hydrostatic guideways. "The MultiContour takes us head and shoulders above the competition," says Falk Herkner, Managing Director Sales and Marketing at WALDRICH COBURG. As he points out, not one single competitor currently has X-axis hydrostatic guideways, and many use no hydrostatics at all. This innovation is designed to ensure the MultiContour can support roughing and finishing without any guideway wear - and all in a single system.
