Rotary screw compressors with new drive technology

For the first time, the ASD series of variable-speed compressors from Kaeser is now being equipped with synchronous reluctance motors.

    28 Jun. 2017
The variable-speed versions of the ASD rotary screw compressors from Kaeser feature a synchronous reluctance drive system.

This is seen by the company as a major advantage due to considerably lower losses in the crucial partial-load range compared to asynchronous motors. Thanks to Sigma Profil and innovative drive concepts, the series of rotary screw compressors is able to offer flow rates ranging from 3.15 to 5.5 cubic meters per minute. According to the manufacturers, the devices thus combine not only very good performance and reliability but also energy efficiency and a space-saving design. Now, as a further important step to be introduced at EMO Hannover 2017, the variable-speed rotary screw compressors are being released with a completely new drive technology. The major advantage of this complete solution is said to be that it delivers efficiency gains of up to ten percent in the partial-load range.
