Reinstalling cutting-edge hard- and software in an overhaul enables a restoration and even an increase in precision along with performance, according to Kapp Niles. As the German company insists, up-to-date control components reduce maintenance costs by shortening the cycle period of the machining process. In addition, graphically refurbished software facilitates the handling of the machine. A number of features are also offered that are said to significantly speed up the data entry and editing of the grinding program. A further merit is seen in the fact that the retrofitting of a new control and its installed interfaces prepares the machine for the coming challenges of Industry 4.0. In this way, the retrofitted machine can already be equipped with the latest remote maintenance technology.
