    Resilient displacement sensors for machining and automation

    The new displacement sensors from Elastisense are based on the innovative Electro-Active Polymer (EAP) technology. This is said to make them virtually immune to tear and wear, misalignment and other nuisances to customary sensor technologies.

    The sensors are seen as precise, robust, elastic and virtually immune to wear and tear thanks to the "active rubber" technology.

    As the Danish specialists for sensor solutions explain, thanks to the pioneering "active rubber" technology and the qualities of being capacitive and elastic, the sensors provide a unique combination of precision and robustness, adding optimum value in mechanically aggressive systems and machines where conventional displacement sensors fail to operate. On the top of that, they enable highly accurate measurements of displacement, frequency and speed in a multiplicity of applications in factory automation and metal processing. The displacement sensor concept is deemed particularly valuable in tough industrial settings where precision is a key performance factor. These include metal pressing and stamping machines, molding tools, robotics and automation, diagnostics, Industry 4.0 and IoT (Internet-of-Things) applications. As the company also points out, their products are highly scalable in terms of shape, size, measurement range and electrical interface, thus enabling easy customization for practically any application. The sensors are sold as stand-alone units but they can also be provided together with up to fifteen further sensors as a part of the Elastisense monitoring solution for metal pressing applications.
