The new SMDA-200 and SMDA-400 systems from Servax are based on the drive technology for pedestrian passages developed by the company's affiliate division Tormax. According to the manufacturers, they are certified by the German technical inspectorate TÜV (Performance Level d according to EN 13849-1). The new systems reportedly include technology for implementing safe torque and speed limits, which ensures that the force and permissible kinetic energy compliant with EN 12453 and EN 953 is safely maintained. As a result, additional safety elements such as light barriers or two-handed operation are not required, which helps to lower the overall cost. As is explained, the drive triggers an immediate change of direction if an obstacle is encountered. Accidents and damages to material and tools can thus be prevented. Selectable signal inputs in two-channel design enable a continuous safety level. The system can be configured via an intuitive user interface, including the opening width of the protective machine door.
