Surface milling is used to machine level surfaces and is the most popular milling method. The range of suitable tools is therefore wide, with milling cutters with a 45° approach angle being the most frequently used. However, Austrian metalworking specialist BOEHLERIT is now at EMO HANNOVER 2017 to show that even methods that are already popular and widespread still leave scope for optimization. The ETAtec 45P, which the company is showcasing in Hannover, is a multifunctional tooling system for extremely easy milling.
In the latest addition to its innovative milling tool portfolio, BOEHLERIT uses a seven-edged surface milling tool with the proven approach angle of 45° and positive basic geometry. This geometry in particular is designed to keep the cutting forces low, which is especially beneficial for users of low-performance machines with low stability. Despite the soft cutting force, a high machining volume is ensured. The new ETAtec 45P surface milling tool with its remarkably low cutting forces is also ideal for workpieces that may create unstable milling conditions due to their shape or properties. “All these benefits have a direct impact on process reliability,” says André Feiel, product manager for milling at BOEHLERIT.
