The new Völkel Green Ring HSSE-PM-TIN machine taps

The Green Ring HSSE-PM-TIN machine tap is the latest extension to the color ring machine tap range from Völkel. Fabricated using powder-metallurgy production methods and with an additional TiN coating, the tap reportedly features enhanced wear resistance and better slide abilities. The tap can therefore be used for a wide range of applications, even difficult ones, according to the German exhibitors. The series has been especially developed for materials with a good machinability up to 1,000 N/mm2, including stainless, alloyed and un-alloyed steel grades as well as copper and aluminum alloys. The manufacturers highlight the enhanced tool lifetime compared to HSS-based standard tools and the possibility of using the taps with higher cutting speeds than is the case with conventional tools. The products are available in the sizes M3 to M16, with spiral flute or spiral point. As is pointed out, the increased tool lifetime should result in fewer production interruptions.
