The machine on exhibition deploys both indexing micro-abrasive tape and fine-grade abrasive stone and is equipped with self-centering hard-shoe tooling to provide a quick set-up and ensure optimal tool performance. As the company maintains, the self-centering tooling improves not just surface finish but also the bearing geometry such as roundness, and also eliminates form errors such as the waviness and chatter that commonly occur from preceding turning and grinding operations. The micro-finishing tool heads are mounted to NC axes to enable programmable flexibility with quick-change tooling for differing bearing widths and diameters. The machine is manually loaded, but also available with conveyor or gantry handling depending on the level of automation required. Also highlighted by the exhibitors is their retrofit tooling for both external and internal microfinishing, described as a range of affordable solutions for low-volume and prototype production.
