Wibu-Systems AG is a technology leader in protecting and licensing software and documents. It offers a diverse and multi award-winning portfolio of patented security solutions, ranging from copy and know-how protection to protection against manipulation. At EMO Hannover 2017, the company is reaching out to manufacturers of intelligent devices, industrial operators and users alike. "Right now, it's very interesting to see how computing power, cloud storage and security technologies are developing in terms of potential and prices, which is also set to change the world," explains Rüdiger Kügler, VP Sales and a security expert at Wibu-Systems, who sees major challenges ahead for industry: "This will lead to a wealth of automated, digital and customized services. Now it's up to us humans to also develop our imaginations."
The company has brought a successful example of its creativity to Hannover. Using a drink mixer in the Industry 4.0 arena, it is showing how cleverly networked systems can create new business models for intelligent production. The concept is based around IUNO, the German national reference project for IT security in Industry 4.0, in which Wibu-Systems is collaborating with partners including AXOOM, a digital production platform provider founded by TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH. In the case of the drink mixer, the manufacturer develops a new drink and the recipe is encrypted using CodeMeter security technology from Wibu-Systems and then made available in the AXOOM marketplace. CodeMeter License Central is integrated into the marketplace as a tool that automates the processes for generating, issuing and managing licenses and provides the relevant license. When customers order the drink of their choice via the marketplace, the license for manufacturing the drink is transferred from CodeMeter License Central to the mixer. “The collaboration between AXOOM and Wibu-Systems is generating new synergies that are creating secure connections between machines, software and industrial processes while meeting the requirements of data-driven business models, all in a seamless process,” says Stephan Fischer, Head of Digital Business Solutions at TRUMPF and CEO of AXOOM. So, let's raise a toast to security!
