The development process of the Unika has made use of Finite Element Method (FEM) calculations, as the exhibitors from OMV stress. This has led to a machine structure that optimally meets the necessary static, dynamic and thermal demands with a highly rigid configuration. The milling machine is designed to meet a particularly wide and diverse range of needs and fulfill the requirements of three-, four- and five-axis machining. The bed and column are composed of a modular body in electro-welded steel, generously dimensioned and strongly ribbed. The linear axes are equipped with a direct optical system that provides a resolution of 0.001 mm. As standard, the center features a vertical head, which is driven by torque motors and has a rotation range of 340°. Both axes are controlled automatically by the CNC unit and also manually by an electronic hand wheel. The maximum speed is specified as 60 rpm. The extensive range of accessories includes dividing attachments, rotary tables and tilting tables, all of which are driven by torque motors. Overall, the Italian manufacturers see the machine as a good combination of high precision and stiffness with impressive dynamics.
