    High power storage increases the energy efficiency of production

    Energy efficiency is a key factor for a sustainable and competitive future. High-Power-Storage (HPS) is an electric flywheel technology to recover, store and re-use energy. The world premiere enables active energy management for Industry 4.0. The customer benefits from more power with lower electricity consumption, according to the company.

    The intelligent High Power Storage system (HPS) is based on the latest flywheel technology and enables active energy management for Industry 4.0. According to Gerotor, the energy consumption and connecting power can be reduced by up to 50 percent in many machine tools. As the German developers explain the principle, the solution enhances energy efficiency through recuperation, peak shaving and smart data. It has a power of up to 60 kW and its compact design, low weight and infinite cycle stability allows flexible application, in particular throughout the industrial sector. Depending on the power demand of the customer, it is possible to scale many units to the required size. The Return on Investment (ROI) in industry is reportedly achieved within one to three years. The development will be officially launched at EMO Hannover 2017.
