Etalon will be showcasing their new interferometer-based measurement system Line-Cal. As the German company explains, the solution records all systematic geometry deviations such as deviation in position, straightness, pitch, yaw, and roll of all three axes and the orthogonal dimensions based on the laser wavelength. It generates the volumetric compensation data directly in the specific format of the machine controller. Intelligent routines make the setup easy. The measurement routine for the complete volumetric compensation is reportedly carried out automatically in 40 to 60 minutes. The effort for the calibration is therefore considerably reduced. At the same time, the system is claimed to achieve particularly high precision in terms of error determination. As the company explains, even deviation parameters that are difficult to measure, for instance the roll of the axis, can be precisely determined with this patented measurement principle.
