Not content with their successful launch of DAS+, the latest version of the popular DAS system, at EMO Hannover 2017, the innovative machining specialists from BIMATEC SORALUCE are already showcasing their next creation - VISUP 3D. This visual system, which was premiered at the company’s in-house exhibition in Limburg, was developed in conjunction with the SORALUCE technology center. It is designed to ensure lasting reductions in the time-consuming alignment processes for large raw parts in the machine, which quite often take longer than the machining itself.
VISUP 3D uses 3D photogrammetry and various hardware and software components developed in-house to enable fast, reliable and straightforward alignment of workpieces with a deviation of 0.1 millimeters for the first meter and just 0.05 millimeters for each subsequent meter - in other words, far more precisely than even required. The core element of the system is the best-fit module, a patented software development based on the measuring module. Using optimization algorithms, it performs 3D best-fit calculations for the finished workpiece and compares these directly with the scatter plot that defines the raw part. This measurement and the best-fit calculations result in a tooling sheet that facilitates easy alignment in the machine.
