The focus will be on the HPU drills, a new generation of carbide-coated drills that can reportedly deliver high performance both in mass production and in the case of small batches and different workpiece materials. The special S geometry and wider chip pockets are said to allow an excellent chip evacuation. Moreover, the straight edge profile and the 45° corner chamfer edge provide increased toughness even with higher feed rates and highly abrasive materials, which results in a longer tool life. In the domain of milling, the manufacturers describe their extended HF Evolution product family as now being the most comprehensive catalog of variable helix and unequal pitch end mills for universal use available in the market. This has been achieved through the addition of new lines with extra-short corner radius, long end mills for trochoidal milling, the Smooth Cut for reduced cutting forces, and the enhancement of the Alu range for machining non-ferrous metals.
Extended range of high-end drilling and milling tools
The Italian exhibitors from Sorma will be introducing significant enhancements to their Osawa range of high-performance drilling and milling tools at EMO Hannover 2017.
