JAKOB Antriebstechnik is best known for its metal bellows couplings, a special type of servo coupling that exhibits high torsional rigidity. However, the company's product portfolio now also includes elastomer and claw couplings, as well as miniature couplings for the very smallest drives. What's more, the company offers several ranges of safety couplings and torque limiters to provide reliable protection against overloading. Just in time for EMO Hannover 2019, JAKOB Antriebstechnik also launched the "Simple-Flex" series - a brand new and innovative distance coupling.
"Simple-Flex" distance couplings can be manufactured in lengths of up to six meters without requiring any additional intermediate support. Thanks to an ingenious composite pipe with a multi-layer, angle-specific fiber configuration, JAKOB has been able to dispense with the coupling compensation elements that would normally be needed at either end of the tube. Following elaborate simulation calculations and test series carried out on the composite pipe during development work, the company has succeeded in combining bending flexibility with high torsional rigidity. The very low weight and the associated low moments of inertia are said to guarantee the highest operating speeds and torques with excellent smoothness - without compromising its ability to compensate for shaft misalignments. "Simple-Flex" is available with either rotationally symmetrical cone ring clamping or with an easy-to-assemble half-shell hub. The two available composite pipe sizes cover torques of up to 1,000 newton meters.
