Fausto Marinello, a subsidiary of the Famar Group, announces the development of a new machine generation. The innovative double-spindle machining centers with horizontal axes are reportedly distinguished by their stiffness and precision and have been developed for maximum productivity and flexibility in medium- and high-volume production. The technical features of the FM251i and FM252i models include a spindle distance of 500 mm, a HSK63 tool holder, a tool changeover time of 2 seconds, and an average chip-to-chip time of 4 seconds. The FM272i version has a spindle distance of 720 mm, a HSK80-100 tool-holder, a tool changeover time of 2 seconds, and an average chip-to-chip time of 4 seconds. The machine can be equipped with up to five axes. All axes are fitted with a linear scale to ensure maximum precision. Thanks to the maximum speed of 90 m/s2, a feed rate of 15 m/s2 and a tool change time of less than 3 seconds, the manufacturers claim very low cycle times.
