An update is now available for the Rollscan 350 noise analyzer. The instrument is designed for the surface quality control and testing of near-surface defects such as grinding burns, heat treatment defects and changes in stress and microstructure in a wide variety of ferritic steel and other ferromagnetic materials. In addition to quality control, the exhibitors point out that the device has a proven worth of investment for manufacturing process control and helping to adjust processes before major losses of material, time and capital occur. The Barkhausen noise sensors are available in many different types, shapes and sizes and are completely customizable to suit any operation. In addition to its new design, further innovations in the enhanced version include an optional extension of the firmware for depth measurements, back-channel monitoring for optimum contact of the sensor, and new wear protection for the sensors.
