Dr. Volker Wittstock studied Mechanical Engineering at the Dresden University of Technology with focus on the design of machine tools and production systems. After working as production development engineer in the field of molding machines, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technologies in 2001. As the group leader Materials and Components he was responsible for several research projects regarding adaptronic and obtained his PhD 2007. In March 2009 he joined the WZMU as chief research engineer. Since 2013 he leads the main department machine tools. The focus of his work is the interdisciplinary cooperation to handle problems in the fields of science and applied research.
