According to the company, each of the geometries is specifically tailored for maximum performance in these material classes. The diameter range is specified as 11 mm to 35 mm. Along with the material-specific geometries, a new holder has been developed to improve chip evacuation and coolant flow to the workpiece interface. The holders are available in 3x, 5x, 7x and 10xD configurations. Each length is available in straight flute with or without a flat, and in imperial or metric shanks. The combination of the inserts and holders has reportedly been shown to produce longer tool life and provide increased penetration rates, which gives the new development a competitive advantage over similar high-penetration drilling systems.

Allied Machine & Engineering announce that the new Gen-3-Sys XT Pro line of inserts will be officially launched at EMO Hannover 2017. The line combines substrate, geometry and coating designs for drilling specific ISO material classes, including P (steel), K (cast iron), and N (nonferrous).
