Positioning and clamping in one operation

The Automatic Positioning System (APS) is described by OML as a universal connection between the machine tool, the clamping device and/or the workpiece.

The APS is unlocked and flooded by means of oiled compressed air. No compressed air is required in the locked state.

According to the Italian company, the flexibility of the zero-point clamping system allows both positioning and clamping in one operation with a repeatability accuracy of less than 0.005 mm. It uses compressed air (6 bar) for unlocking and spring force for clamping. No compressed air is required in the locked condition. The manufacturers claim that set-up time can be effectively reduced by 90 percent and that the system offers greater flexibility in configuration and an increase in productivity resulting in a short pay-back time.
