As the company explains, the success story of its PCBN product range began in 2009 with the launch of DBS900, a grade with a unique new binder system delivering unmatched toughness for highly interrupted machining. At EMO Hannover 2017, Element Six will be introducing two new PCBN grades, DHA650 and DIA500, based on its next-generation grade design Pure-Cut. This is reportedly manufactured without impurities by using an ultra-clean grade composition, a nano-powder binder and an optimized grain size distribution. The combination of these innovations is said to deliver extreme strength, increased resistance to chemical wear and greater integrity to the lifecycle of the material, resulting in a step-change in productivity. As the exhibitors maintain, it has been proven that Pure-Cut delivers up to 50-percent longer tool life in comparison to industry benchmark grades.
New grades for extreme hardness
Pure-Cut is the latest addition to the PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) product range from Element Six. The new development has been designed for the machining of hardened steels used in the automotive, aerospace and general engineering industries.
