    New addition to the family

    The new Umill 1500, a 5-axis milling center for the complete machining of complex workpieces up to 4.5 metric tons in a single clamping process, is a successful addition to the Umill range from EMCO MECOF.

    The Austrian EMCO Group is a network of top European suppliers from the machine tool industry that work together on devising production and training solutions for the machining industry. Its companies include MECOF, based in Italy, which has been developing and manufacturing vertical portal milling machines and horizontal moving column machining centers since 1947. At EMO 2017 in Hannover, the world’s premier trade fair for the machine tool industry, EMCO MECOF presented a new model in the Umill series - the Umill 1500. This was a highly successful response to the demand for automated compact 5-axis machining centers that combine high performance with speed and precision.

    The compact 5-axis milling center for complete machining of complex workpieces in a single clamping process is designed for use in tool- and die-making, general mechanical engineering, contract manufacturing and aviation and boasts suitably impressive performance values. MECOF’s newly developed milling head delivers winning results in stability and rigidity coupled with high speed and precision, thanks to its milling output of 45 kilowatts (S1), torque of 300 newton meters (S1) and 12,000 rpm speed. Despite its compact machine structure, consisting of a cast steel construction with ball screws and linear roller guides, optimized with FEM analysis, the Umill 1500 has a generous travel distance of 1,500 x 1,500 x 1,100 millimeters.
