According to the EDM specialists, precision, profitability and high-quality surface finishing are crucial aspects when machining complex workpieces for critical aircraft components such as turbine blades, vanes and slots. The manufacturers point to their more than 25 years of collaboration with the world's leading aeronautical companies in these kinds of applications. The new AV100 Wire EDM solution is billed as a good example of this concept since it has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of manufacturing large-size wheels for the turbine industry. Despite being one of the biggest machines on the market, its new generator reportedly allows finishes of up to 0.1 microns Ra to be achieved. Moreover, its CNC control system enables up to eight axes to be controlled simultaneously, which is claimed to considerably enhance the performance capability of the machine customers.
