Rotomors describes itself as a leading manufacturer of self-centering automatic chucks for the production of railway wheels. Thanks to what the company calls a sophisticated three-phase clamping concept, maximum productivity can reportedly be achieved. As the German exhibitors explain the process, the initial clamping of the blank is carried out in the first phase by three clamping jaws with pull-down and toothed clamping inserts. During the next operation in phase two, a swivel device rotates the wheel by 180° and places it on the profiled tension inserts. During the last phase, the wheel is then clamped in the second clamping operation with the other three clamping jaws of the second clamping jaw series for the surface machining of the other wheel side.
