    Ball screws to improve machine tool productivity

    The ball screws from A. Mannesmann reach maximum speeds of 150 m/min, maximum accelerations of 20 m/s2 and speed factors (n x d) of 200,000 and more. These performance data, which are worldwide technologically leading according to the manufacturers, allow extreme operating efficiency for durable machine tools. The high-quality, deep-nitrided and ground spindles with a surface hardness of 67 HRC have an exceptionally high wear resistance. As a result, the AM ball screws are in a position to keep the set nut preload force maintained, leading in practice to a high service life. Low friction, a very small heat generation and minimum torque variations, combined with high running smoothness, are further technical merits. The company offers a wide range of standard designs with preloaded double nut in ranges of nominal diameter 25 to 160 mm and spindle lengths up to 15,000 mm and more. For special applications, tailored designs are developed with customers.
