BIG KAISER showcases next generation of digital boring heads with wireless connectivity

Ruemlang, Switzerland – September 15, 2017 – BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions for the metalworking industries, today announced the EWE, the first in a new generation of digital boring heads with wireless connectivity.

The EWE connects to BIG KAISER's user-friendly smartphone and tablet app, making it easier to monitor and configure the head while assembling and running boring tools. The EWE is available and is now in production.

The app helps operators determine optimal cutting parameters for their tool assemblies, and displays changes in cutting diameters. It also logs the tool adjustment history for future reference.

BIG KAISER has applied for two patents for innovations in the EWE: an RF antenna that radiates through the display and battery positioning that simplifies replacement. By building new technology solutions and using its in-house electronics expertise, BIG KAISER is ensuring that it stays at the forefront of Industry 4.0 developments.

“BIG KAISER is at the leading edge of applying latest technology to machining,” says Giampaolo Roccatello, VP Sales at BIG KAISER. “The EWE and the app demonstrate how new mobile and wireless developments can provide practical benefits to our customers.”

At Stand B46 in Hall 3, BIG KAISER is presenting its industry-leading portfolio of high-precision boring tools. Visitors can also see the Suter 500, the world’s fastest two-stroke motorbike, which is capable of achieving speeds of more than 310km/h. BIG KAISER is an official technology partner of Suter Racing.

EMO Hannover is the world's premier trade fair for the metalworking sector and runs from September 18 to 23, 2017. The most recent event, in 2013, attracted more than 2,130 exhibitors and around 143,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries.
