VDW (Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken e.V), since 1920 renowned organizer of trade fairs, has been entrusted with the organisation of EMO Hannover and forms a General Commissariat for this purpose for each event.

The trade fair EMO is organized under the patronage and at the initiative of the European Committee for Cooperation of the Machine Tool Industries (CECIMO). EMO takes place every other year, twice consecutively in Hannover, once in Milan, e.g. Hannover - Hannover - Milan - Hannover - Hannover - Milan.
