Machine tool for small tool manufacture (0161)
The new MX7 has been specifically configured by Anca for small tool manufacture. Based on the company's RX7, the new machine has specially configured accessories to enable high-quality small tool manufacture down to diameters of 0.5 mm. The additional standard items include a HSK double-ended spindle for precise wheel arbor location, linear scales on the X and Y axes, precision work-holding including an overhead V clamp, and a temperature-controlled wheel spindle and machine coolant. For small-diameter ball-nose tools, the I-View tool measurement system is said to be ideal. The operator can check the tool ball profile directly in the machine and correct it accordingly if required. Several automation options are available, including a Fanuc robot and the PLX pallet loader. Both options offer a very high capacity for extended unattended machine operation.

Tap manufacture in a single setup (0162)
The Tap X is described by Anca as a revolution in tap design and manufacture. Now, in a single compact setup, one CNC grinding machine can perform the entire scope of tap manufacturing processes from the blank to finished product. Flexibility is singled out as the key feature of the tap-grinding process on the machine. Specially designed tooling combined with the I-Tap software is said to ensure that a vast array of tap types and sizes can be designed and produced on the one machine. Special advantages include an impressive suite of dedicated tap and flute design software, short change-over and set-up times that increase productivity, design and manufacturing versatility to produce a wide range of tap types, and flexible wheel-dressing options, which are critical to ensure the accuracy of the finished part. On-machine wheel balancing serves to reduce downtime and results in a more accurate balance. The machine is seen as ideal for small- or large-volume batch runs, making it economical for both standard and special taps. A powerful 37 kW spindle can reportedly handle even the toughest grinding job.
