Gantry-type HSC machining center with five axes (0386)
Alzmetall will be introducing a further gantry-HSC machining center with five axes in the form of the GS 650/5-T. The machine integrates its swivel-rotary combination with three torque drives directly at the machine base body. The A-axis rotating around the X-axis consists of two separate rotational direct drives, whereas the C-axis rotating around the Z-axis enables continuous rotation up to 60 rpm due to a third torque drive. Both these axes allow workpieces of 800x800 mm to be machined. A special feature is the rotary table being 100 m lower than the A-axis, which increases the distance from the spindle nose to the table level to 650 mm and offers a maximum working range of 450 mm in the vertical rotary table position. The dynamic torque drive technology and the highly accurate five-axis simultaneous machining is supported by the extreme stiffness of the machine, which weighs 13 tons and whose frame parts are all made of grey cast iron. The center targets applications in the aircraft industry, manufacturing, the tool-and-die industry, and mechanical engineering. The travels in X, Y and Z are given as 650, 650 and 550 mm. The maximum table load is specified as 500 kg.
