The new Super-Meclab.X bench top laser micrometer is a high-precision instrument for ultra-high accuracy diameter measurements from Aeroel. It is seen as ideal for the off-line, manual measurements of a wide range of ground or turned parts with different shapes and sizes, such as electric motor shafts, ground or turned parts, gage pins, piston pins, and hydraulic components. It measures diameter and roundness, run-out, edge position, taper, grooves or peak diameter, and gap between parts. Based on a Xactum-high speed, high-accuracy laser micrometer, the system uses a PC with integrated touch-sensitive 15-inch TFT screen to provide an extremely friendly interface to the user. The company says it produces objective and highly reproducible results, is very easy and quick to use, and serves to reduce inspection time and improve measurement capability. The flexible instrument allows different components and sizes can be measured in a contactless manner without system pre-setting or re-mastering. Accuracy can reportedly be achieved that was only previously possible in a metrology room using much more expensive equipment and specialized personnel.
